Our volunteer librarians can help you with many of your questions. They can do the following:
- Locate records that are in our collection and provide a copy to you.
- Assist you in digitizing your documents
- Help you navigate and use the websites we have available on our computers
- Use our catalogue to locate materials for you
If your request is simple and requires no more than 30 minutes of our time, there is no charge.
However, many requests take more time. We have 4 genealogists who are willing and able to complete complex research. To start the process, please send a request to queries@stillygen.org
It would be helpful if you can give us an idea of what you are looking for i.e. birth, death or marriage records, questions about parentage, as well as what information you already have. Our research coordinator will assign you a genealogist and pass on your information.
Your assigned genealogist will contact you directly and set up a time to meet either in person or on the phone. Expect that the genealogist will take an hour to review your documents and discuss your goals with you.
Once your genealogist has a clear idea of the scope of research you are requesting, they will give you an estimate of how much time the work will entail. At the completion of the research, we would like you to consider a donation to SVGS at the rate of $20.00 an hour. Stillaguamish Valley Genealogical Society is a non-profit organization, and our genealogists volunteer their time, however, research projects are an important source of revenue for us.
Sometimes, despite our efforts, we are unable to locate the information you are seeking. If that should happen, we will give you a summary of where we have searched. This is at no charge to you.
Your membership entitles you to 2 hours of research assistance.
