History
The first interments happened about 1885. It is believed that approximately 500 Stillaguamish Tribe members were interred about 18 feet outside of the current perimeter of this cemetery. Markers for these gravesites do not exist, but when walking this area, it is possible to see depressions in the earth where gravesites were created. Tribal members interred family members there after an epidemic significantly reduced the Nation's population, possibly in the epidemic of 1884 and 1885 that swept the Stillaguamish valley.
